Neurologist focused on Neuromuscular disorders as well as functional test of central and peripheral nerve system, including Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) of evoked potentials. Dr. Martínez-Piñeiro obtained the “Río Hortega” grant by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spanish Health Ministry).
She followed different IOM observerships at Hyman-Newman Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of St.Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York, Intraoperative Neurophysiology Unit of Bellvitge University Hospital and Istituto Clinico Humanitas (Milano). From 2014, she has implemented a clinical and training IOM program at University Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol (HUGTiP, Barcelona).

Her clinical research has focused on the application of electrodiagnostic techniques in neurovascular pathology. She has obtained competitive grants from La Marató TV3 Foundation, La Caixa Foundation with the research project: “New predictive biomarkers of functional recovery prior to the endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke. PROMISE (somatosensory evoked POtEntials MonItoring during acute ischemic StrokE) Study” (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT04099615).
She is also the inventor of the patent “Prediction of the outcome of endovascular treatment in acute ischemic stroke patients” (NºPCT/EP2018/053899, no.:EP17382078.8).
