Gisela Ruiz, PhD

CTO

“Biomedical engineer specialized in the design and development of biomedical sensors for Point of Care devices”

She obtained her Bachelor in Biomedical engineering in 2013 and after her Master in Biomedical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Until 2016, she worked at the SISEMED company as clinical engineer consultant in the elaboration of medical equipment plan projects and technical protocols for prevention and maintenance of electromedical equipment. She received her Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering PhD (2019) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) with honors, working in the development of fast and simple electrochemical magneto-biosensors and their integration in Point-of-Care (POC) diagnostic devices. During the coronavirus pandemic she was working as a postdoctoral researcher in the EU-funded CoNVat project, and she developed an innovative photonics sensor nanotechnology for the direct detection of the SARS-COV-2 virus and their application in a rapid and automated POC device.

Role: Technical lead of the device development.
