Time is Brain is a technology-based spin-off of the Fundació d'Investigació en Ciències de la Salut Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP), founded in 2020 to develop BraiN20^®, a portable medical device that aims to transform stroke diagnosis and prognosis by automatically monitoring brain electrical activity in real time.

We are looking for an experienced Hardware & Firmware Engineer to join our multidisciplinary R&D team and contribute to the next generation of BraiN20®. The successful candidate will work closely with hardware, firmware, biomedical and mechanical engineers throughout the complete medical device development lifecycle.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a customer-oriented Technical Support Specialist to manage the receipt, follow-up, and resolution of technical issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling customer enquiries, providing first-level technical support, coordinating repairs, and ensuring the proper administrative and operational management of technical incidents.

The position requires strong organizational skills, technical communication abilities, and effective coordination with different internal departments.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

• Provide telephone and email support to customers regarding technical questions or issues.
• Perform initial analysis and basic troubleshooting of technical incidents.
• Resolve first-level technical issues remotely (by phone or email).
• Record and follow up on incidents in the management system.
• Coordinate collections, shipments, and logistics related to repairs.
• Manage and follow up on equipment pending repair.
• Prioritize and coordinate the technical workshop's work queue.Maintain ongoing communication with customers regarding the status of incidents and repairs.
• Coordinate with the Finance Department regarding:
  • Preparation and sending of quotations.
  • Management of approvals.
  • Issuing of invoices.

• Provide administrative support related to the technical service.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate technical team.

IDEAL JOB PROFILE:

• Technical qualification or training in electronics, biomedical engineering, IT, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Previous experience in technical customer support or a technical support service (SAT).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple technical incidents simultaneously.
• Proficiency in office software and ERP/CRM systems.
• Customer-oriented mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
• English language

Position Overview
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide cross-functional engineering support, primarily focused on Hardware while contributing to Firmware activities whenever required.

The role will support the redesign, integration, optimization and validation of the BraiN20® electronic and embedded architecture.
Key Responsibilities

Hardware Development
• Design, redesign and optimize electronic circuits, schematics and PCBs
• Select, evaluate and validate electronic components
• Perform electrical, functional and integration testing of electronic assemblies
• Support prototype manufacturing, debugging and verification activities
• Manage component sourcing and purchasing activities

Firmware Development
• Support firmware integration, debugging and validation
• Participate in hardware bring-up and embedded software testing
• Contribute to firmware development in Embedded C/C++
• Support the migration towards the NXP i.MX93 embedded Linux platform

Product Development
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, biomedical and mechanical engineers throughout the complete product lifecycle
• Prepare engineering documentation, design reports and validation documentation
• Participate in verification activities, healthy volunteer studies and clinical evaluations

Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
Professional Experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience in electronic hardware development
• Experience designing electronic hardware, including schematics, PCB design and component selection
• Experience performing PCB electrical and functional validation
• Experience using Altium Designer
• Practical experience developing embedded firmware using C/C++
• Experience working with embedded systems

Preferred Qualifications
We would especially value candidates with experience in the following areas:
• Experience with embedded Linux platforms based on application processors (preferably NXP i.MX family)
• Yocto Project
• Communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, CAN, USB or Ethernet
• Python scripting or automation
• Medical device development
• Regulated environments (medical, automotive, aerospace or industrial)
• IEC 62304, ISO 14971 and CE certification processes

Soft Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Good planning and time management skills
• Good written and spoken English

We are looking for an experienced Senior ML Engineer to join our multidisciplinary R&D team and contribute to the next generation of BraiN20®. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and very closely with a researcher specializing in machine learning for neuroscience

Position Overview
The primary responsibility of this position is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge machine learning research in neuroscience and production-ready medical technology. In this role, you will play a critical part in wrapping, optimizing and deploying machine learning models onto both physical medical devices and AWS cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
• Architect & Deploy: Wrap, modularize, and optimize machine learning models for deployment on medical devices and AWS cloud environments.
• Applied Machine Learning Research: Keep up with the state-of-the-art in machine learning and do research to apply it to our use cases.
• Collaborate & Mentor: Partner closely with a researcher in neuroscience, providing code reviews, architectural guidance, and engineering mentorship.
• Productionize Code: Clean, refactor, and elevate Python functionalities into production-ready, highly maintainable, and well-tested codebases.
• Infrastructure & Pipeline Design: Build reliable CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies that meet the rigorous standards required for medical software.

Required Qualifications

Education
A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or related field.
Professional Experience
• 6+ years of relevant experience in fast paced environments such as tech start-ups and/or scale-ups.
• Deep knowledge of Python (concurrency, parallelization, memory management, packaging, and ecosystem).
• Deep theoretical understanding of machine learning, including neural networks.
• Proven track record of deploying machine learning applications to both physical devices and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience with writing clean code, unit testing, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills with a passion for mentoring and collaborating with cross-disciplinary team members.

Preferred Qualifications
We would especially value candidates with experience in the following areas:
• Scientific publications in machine learning
• Basic understanding and experience processing EEG and/or SSEP data
• Experience developing software under medical device regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 62304) or data privacy standards (HIPAA/GDPR)
